Type of Work: Book Design
Spring 2015While working at the Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE), I was given the opportunity to design the interior of Maureen Halinan's memoir Seeking God. One of the co-founders of the Alliance for Catholic Education, Halinan details how God worked through the hardships and joys of her life to be a conduit of God's grace.
I was the sole designer for the book's interior, which included illustrating original ornaments. Odd-numbered chapters feature quotes by St. John of the Cross and use one type of ornament; even-numbered chapters feature quotes by Thomas Merton and use a different type of ornament. This creates rhythmic repetition throughout the book. I collaborated with Mary Jo Adams Kocovski, the Communications Specialist at the Alliance for Catholic Education, on the cover design.
