I am a ten-time award-winning book designer by day, and at night I am a freelance designer looking to make all your design-related dreams come true.
I currently work as a designer at Ave Maria Press—a Catholic publishing company located in South Bend, IN—where I create covers, page designs, and packaging for print and digital books. A lot of people ascribe to the saying “don’t judge a book by its cover,” but I won’t mind if you judge mine by theirs. I graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2017, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Communication Design and a minor in Chinese. I originally hail from Cleveland, OH where I learned a love of family, faith, and football.
Thoughts on design…
I believe design has the power to change lives. In its many print and digital forms, design impacts the way people think, share information, and interact with one another. For me, design is not simply a career—it is a vocation by which I can improve the lives of others. My work can, and should, be a force for good in this world.
The two aspects of design that most drive my process are typography and color. I believe a skilled use of fonts or custom lettering is inherent to communicating effectively, and a thoughtful use of color can elevate an adequate solution to greatness.
Thoughts on everything else…
I have a life-long passion for dance and movement. I began taking dance lessons at age three and performed competitively for ten years during elementary and high school. In college, I choreographed and performed on two different dance companies, and eventually became Creative Director and President for the University of Notre Dame’s TransPose Dance Collective. While my days of performing onstage are behind me, I now dance recreationally at a local fitness studio.
My other interests include drinking copious amounts of coffee and cheering on my favorite sports teams—the Cleveland Browns, Cavaliers, and Guardians, and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. On the weekends, you can often find me on the road, driving to Cleveland, Detroit, or Chicago to visit friends and family, or aspiring to be the hostess with the most-est when they come visit me.
